November 13, 2025 — The Alabama State Department of Education today released its 2024–2025 Alabama Education Report Card, which highlights academic performance, growth, and other key indicators for every public school and district across the state. Vestavia Hills City Schools once again earned one of the highest overall scores in Alabama, reflecting the district’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and strong community support.

Vestavia Hills City Schools received an overall score of 97 for the third consecutive year, maintaining its position among the top-performing districts in the state. Each of the district’s nine schools also earned an A on the state report card, underscoring consistent quality of education across all grade levels.

The individual school scores are as follows:

  • Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights: 99
  • Vestavia Hills Elementary Dolly Ridge: 99
  • Vestavia Hills Elementary East: 100

“Our teachers, administrators, and support staff work every day to provide learning environments where every student can thrive,” said Dr. Todd Freeman, Superintendent of Vestavia Hills City Schools. “These results are a reflection of that effort and of our community’s shared commitment to excellence. We are grateful for the partnership of our families and the support of our Board of Education in making success possible for every student.”

The Alabama Education Report Card evaluates schools and districts based on academic achievement, academic growth, chronic absenteeism, and other factors. Each indicator is weighted to calculate the overall letter grade, providing a comprehensive picture of student and school performance.

“While this report card represents a snapshot of performance, it also highlights the ongoing progress taking place every day in our schools. These scores reflect our focus on continuous improvement and preparing every student to learn without limits,” Freeman said.
